How to Spring Clean Your Home-Include These 8 Items
With springtime upon us, now is a good time to learn how to effectively spring clean your home. Nothing feels better than coming home to a clean home, but I know it can seem overwhelming.
Instead of tackling it all at once, I recommend using a cleaning checklist so you can get it done on your own time. Just taking a few minutes here and there will help you get one step closer to a clean home.
The checklist will let you know what areas still need to be cleaned and it also works well for your fall cleaning routine.
The good news is, if you keep up with your cleaning routine throughout the year, your spring cleaning list shouldn’t be too long.
This post includes items that are usually missed in the weekly cleaning schedule.
Spring Clean Your Home-Include These 8 Items
Window treatments
Take the drapes down to be dry cleaned or washed in the machine. You can also vacuum them with an upholstery attachment. Check the cleaning tag to make sure you don’t damage them.
Blinds
I like to put my hands in a sock, spray with cleaner and go to town. You will definitely need more than one sock! A Swiffer Duster works just as well.
Windows
A great trick is to clean the inside with a squeegee going vertically and clean the outside going horizontally. This will help you see any streaks. Also, choose a cloudy day to clean the windows to avoid spots from the sun.
Baseboards-Spring Clean Your Home
Clean the baseboards by wiping them with a microfiber cloth. Don’t wet the cloth, or you’ll have a sticky mess to clean up, trust me!
Doorknobs and Light Switches
The doorknobs and light switches are areas most people forget to clean. Use a disinfectant to get them clean and to kill germs at the same time!
Shampoo the carpets
If your carpets are looking dirty and worn, sometimes a good shampoo is all that’s needed to help them look new and make them last longer.
Oven
The oven is a place that seldom gets clean, but taking the time to clean it on a regular basis will help it last longer. It is also safer to cook in a clean oven. A dirty oven that has grease and food debris inside is at a higher risk of fire.
Sofa and chairs
This is a good time to remove the cushions and pillows and vacuum the crevices of your sofa and chairs. I’m sure you’ll find things hiding down there that will amaze you (or gross you out)! Vacuuming the sofa and chairs will remove dust and help prolong the fabric’s life.
