How to Declutter Your Storage Room Effortlessly
Everyone has a place in their home that serves as a catchall for things that don’t fit anywhere else. It could be your attic, your basement, or even your garage. No one notices how cluttered the space is until they need to find something. They look around, throw their hands up, and walk away from the mess they’ve created. If you can relate to this scenario and would like to learn how to declutter your storage room, this post will give you the tips you need to get it done!
How to Declutter Your Storage Room
When you declutter your storage room, be sure to include metal shelving. Metal shelving is better than wood because it can withstand heat and humidity changes.
Plastic storage boxes are great for storing and protecting items and are easy to carry and move around. Choose containers that have handles and allow you to see the contents inside. If they aren’t clear, label the boxes, so you know what’s in them. Papers such as old tax returns and holiday decorations can go in plastic boxes high on a shelf.
Here are some additional items to include in your storage room:
- Hooks to help keep items off the floor
- Snap-lock strips to hold your Swiffer and brooms in place
- Flashlight in case the power goes out, and you need to reset a fuse.
Keep similar items together. Sporting equipment can go on a wall or in a bin in the corner.
Hang power tools and household items on a pegboard system.
As you can see, it’s not difficult to declutter your storage room, but it may take some time to get it together. However, it will be time well spent.
Having a storage room that is clean and organized will allow you to see what you have, and you will be able to find what you need.
