Create a Spa Bathroom at Home-10 Simple Ways
There is nothing more relaxing than coming home at the end of the day and entering a bathroom that has a spa-like feeling. Instead of traveling to the nearest hotel or spa, why not create your own spa bathroom?

Steps To Create Your Spa Bathroom
Add Relaxing Scents
I know that whenever I enter a spa, the first thing I notice is the way it smells. Think about the scents that relax you and add them to your bathroom. Calming scents are vanilla, lavender (my favorite!), chamomile, cinnamon, tangerine, and coconut. Select one scent and add it to your bath by using air fresheners, potpourri, candles, or plug-in room fresheners. Change the scents with the seasons or whenever you feel like you need a change. Just adding a calming scent to your bathroom will make a world of difference!
Use Pretty Containers
Attractive, white, or glass jars can hold your cotton balls and swabs, makeup brushes, toothbrushes, potpourri, your everyday jewelry, or anything else your heart desires.
Incorporate A Tub Caddy

Another way to create a spa bath is to add a tub caddy and place candles, loofahs, shower gel, and soaps on it. Some tub caddies come with a book holder so you can read while you relax.
Play Relaxing Music in Your Spa Bathroom
Including a shower radio will allow you to relax and forget about your problems while you shower. Tune in to a relaxing station to help you unwind.
Include Calming Flowers

Orchids can tolerate the wet, steamy environment of the bathroom. They also add a calming, spa-like feel.

Place A Fluffy Bath Rug Near the Bathtub
A fluffy bath rug will feel soft to your toes when you step out of the shower or bathtub. Sliding your feet into some spa-like slippers will help keep your feet warm and prevent you from slipping on the hard floor.
Hang Bathrobes

Hang bathrobes on the back of a door. Just seeing the robes when entering your bathroom will help you begin to relax.
Use Light Paint Colors
When deciding on colors for your bathroom, the most calming colors are the lighter ones. Keep everything uniform in color, and it will be very pleasing to the eyes. When painting the room, select formulas designed for the bathroom, like semi-gloss. Semi-gloss paint is known to repel moisture.
Display Art in the Bathroom
Consider adding art to the walls. Select peaceful designs that complement the color scheme you’ve selected.
Spa Bathroom Accessories
Adding heated towel bars and upgrading the light fixtures can give the bathroom an instant facelift. While you’re at it, add a wall-mount magnifying mirror to help with putting on makeup.
Hopefully, these tips will motivate you to create a spa bathroom in your home.

Hmm…I wonder what you would think of our Alabama Crimson Tide bathroom…ha! Definitely not very spa like, but that’s the kids’ bathroom. Ours is a little better. My dream bathroom has a giant tub, like the one in this picture. Someday!
I actually love themed bathrooms for kids! It makes the space fun and encourages them to brush their teeth and take showers! 😉 The funny thing about tubs is that they can help your bathroom feel more zen-like, but not many people actually USE them. You’ll get your tub one day, I just know it! 🙂
Great tips! I love relaxing in the tub with wine, bubbles, and a book! I’ve reused glass candle holders to hold things like cotton balls. 🙂
That’s a good idea for reusing candle holders. I’ll have to try that one!
Thank you for this site, can happily say we currently have a steam shower of our very own and we love it
Great ideas! Any preference on tile, lighting or wood/material finishes to attain a spa feel?
his sounds beautiful but my bathroom is too small for this. We do keep things like bodywash,, shampoo, loofah brushes in it and last summer we added a walk=in=tub which has a Jacuizzi in it.
Nice! Spa touches can be added to any size bathroom by selecting calming colors and scents, and also by adding music and soft fabrics. Hope this helps. Thanks for your comment! 🙂
